The Firm engages in a highly sophisticated real estate practice including acquisitions/sales, development, condominium, landlord/tenant, land use, brokerage, lending, partnership, and construction. Reid C. Wilson, Abe S. Goren, Cynthia S. Olsen, Tiffany DeMangin, David Groff, Peggy Felder and Randy Lerner and are Board Certified in Commercial Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
The Firm's service to the real estate industry has broadened in scope, with lawyers representing a varied spectrum of clients. These include commercial banks, savings associations, insurance companies, credit companies, real estate investment trusts, hoteliers, developers and contractors. Some of the legal matters handled by this section are loan documentation, loan workout, foreclosure, lender liability, secured transactions, sale of foreclosed real estate, loan documentation review, AAA construction arbitration and litigation. The Firm has particular expertise in land use law, including zoning, platting and municipal regulations and governmental relationships. Transactions are handled on local and regional levels, from land acquisition and closing through the development, construction and occupancy stages. Our industry focus provides clients the benefit of counsel in all real estate related areas.
The Firm is heavily involved in Real Estate Industry associations and education. The Firm is a sponsor of ULI, CCIM and NAIOP functions. Members of the Firm are frequent speakers at Real Estate Industry functions and continuing education events. Members of the Firm have chaired functions such as the Commercial Real Estate Course (cosponsored by the Texas Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and South Texas College of Law), the Real Estate Law Conference (sponsored by South Texas College of Law), the Advanced Real Estate Drafting Course (sponsored by the State Bar of Texas) and the Texas Land Use Law Seminar (sponsored by CLE International). Participation in Planning Committees includes all the foregoing seminars and the Advanced Real Estate Law Course (sponsored by the State Bar of Texas) and the Mortgage Lending Institute (sponsored by the University of Texas School of Law).
